WTB: AAZ Rear Engine Mount Bracket
« on: October 02, 2012, 10:04:26 am »
A long time ago in a land far far away someone swapped a 1.6 into my Mk III.  After several years of dealing with engine mount related issues, I finally figured out they kept the rear engine mount bracket off the 1.6 and just drilled a hole in it to "fit".  Unfortunately it's waaaay too short so the engine isn't sitting right and it is going to rip apart the front mount in no short order.

Looking for the rear mount bracket for an AAZ, preferably one in Canada.  Would like to see a pic so I know it's the right part!

Thanks!

Bryn

hey bud, the ABA (2.0L mk3 8v engine) should have used the same mount..

and it will be much easier to source..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

I think they all, all sizes of engines use the same one. I have one from a 1.8 can(I went to a vnt so I had to replace it). I assume a 1.9D block will be very similarly sized to this 1.8 gasser it came from.  You can have it for only shipping cost if you want it.  MK III golf it came from.

I have an AAZ rear mount i'm not using but i'm in California so it's definitely not worth it to you. I can, however, post a pic if you want for comparison -maybe even pull a part number from under all that grease :)

Pretty sure I have an AAZ one on the back of my AAZ engine that I don't need. However like it was said, ABA or 1.8 mk3 engine likely is identical.

If you still need the mount how does 10 bucks plus shipping sound? ;D

Hey everyone, rodpaslow has one coming my way.  Thanks!!  Next task will be the "fun" of swapping that out.  Hopefully before the weather changes...

its really not that hard.. i can do it from above.

just un bolt the mount from the isolator

lift the passenger side of the engine with a jack, about an inch

un bolt the existing mount, replace with new one..

be sure you have the right bolt to secure the new mount to the existing isolator..

It appears there is a stud there now... Looking at the VAGCAT diagrams it appears to be the same as the "double stud with hexagon drive" so hopefully I'll be ok.  That would SUCK if not.

Good to know.  Above would be much "friendlier" in my work area.

It is basically a bolt with a stud sticking out of the head. On Gassers it holds the bracket to secure the O2 sensor connectors.
