Ive got the same,but different.
sootyvag has a 1.9 with a 1.6 head..its na.
my dad bought it new in the late 90s when the orig engine crapped out.
I think he got it from eurosport or eurospec or somewhere,he can't remember.
They were blowing them out the door for around 2k.
he just wanted a new engine, and saw them for sale.
it was a nice swap, cause ya didn't haveta swap manifolds.
yea I can tell that over 5k its breathing a little hard because of the small 1.6 ports, but honestly that's probably more cause of the pump/governor.
it def has some nice low end tq.it'll rev good but not a real singer like a 1.6.
its got a real short geared factory gearbox, the ratios are the same as the 83 gti close ratio...since I put my garden tractor wheels on it its even worse.
try 4krpms at 65mph..that's ok to me for now,its a barhopper,or runaround town car.although on a recent trip to my friends 2 hours away,it didn't mind sitting there at 4k for a few hours.the mileage is def still low 40s too.
I probably should throw a different 5th gear in it,like a. 71 especially if I throw a stock td setup on it...
about the only mods needed for the swap(tall block) were to trim the jpper timing cover, and make a longer bracket to hold the coolant pipe to the side of the head.
Throttle cables ftw

Thanks for all the help and advice.

I'm thinking that my aaz head and intake\exhaust\tubro, on the 1.6td block is the easiest choice at this moment.

What do i need to look for to complete the above ?

Block needs to be hydro?

Rebuild 1.9 aaz head goes on, can I skim the head to help compensate for the compression loss? Or will that give me interference issues?

What nozzles should I use, on what injector bodies ( 1.6 vs 1.9).

Same timing belt size, tensioners etc?

There are 2 aaz turbos - which should i use?

What injection pump should I use?  1,6 or 1.9?

thanks

Makes it a hell of a lot easier ;)

Combustion chamber is in the pistons, so I do not think it will help any.

Full 1.9 injectors would probably be the best.

I think you will have to use the 1.6 belt.. as it is the block that is usually taller on the 1.9. not the head. 1.9 tensioner has a slot in it for perfect tensioning, but you will need the AAZ metal backing plate for that. So a 1.6 will do.

There are 2 aaz turbos - which should i use?

Not the k03, unless you want instaboost and will be doing more in town than highway. I do love the k03 for in town, spools off idle. The K14 still spools fast but has better mid and top end capabilities.

What injection pump should I use?  1,6 or 1.9?

1.9 base, internals, and distributor head. Along with the 1.6 lid, throttle springs, and boost pin. I have this on my bro's AAZ and it is the siht.

thanks

Try doing some searches, even through Google. This exact thing has been covered many a times and the information is most certainly readily available. :)
