16v Pressure plate & Flywheel, 8v Friction disc

Is this possible given all the components are 210mm diameter?

I have no reason to believe it is not possible, but I am trying to find a flywheel with 2 dowel pins that has a TDC mark on it and have not.  So I am looking to other options to obtaining a flywheel with TDC mark on it.  I have in my possession an AAZ flywheel 210mm with single dowel pin.  I have an ASF transmission (8v) 24T input shaft - the small one).  I don't have a 16v transmission with the larger input shaft (28T).  If I wanted one I would be looking for a CHD/DFP/ATH.

Anyhow, has anyone done this?  It appears to me the overall thickness of the earlier flywheel (w/2 dowel pins) is less than that of the later one (w/1 dowel pin) and not sure how this would affect the combination.

If you are asking what I think you are then yes. My setup was for a scirocco but with an small 24 spline disc. If you get a Mk3 pp that will work with the 1 pin flywheel...or should as far as I have ever seen.

as long as you have the right PP and FW, then any 210mm disk will work..

I've done this many times, in the past.  Using the 16v plate was the cheaper way to get the extra clamping force without going to a Sachs Sporting.  I think the 16v plate was only 10% less clamping force.

I'm not sure what you mean by a 16v flywheel.  I've pulled them off 16v Sciroccos and 16v A2s and they're the same as the 8v flywheels.  The only difference is the actual timing hash mark.  TDC is TDC.

the bold part, absolutely 100% accurate..

the rest of it sounds good as well..

my 16v pressure plate seemed to hold BETTER than my sachs sport clutch...
