Crankshaft bolts on 1.6NA

I need to replace the crankshaft oil seal on my '81 Caddy 1.6NA (CR engine)and have only done this on previously owned 1.5NA engines (CK engine). The R.B. manual implies that the crankshaft bolt and washer should be replaced on the CR engine, but gives a method to reuse the bolt on the CK engine which I have done successfully before. Is this necessary? The only source for the bolt and washer I have found has been the local VW dealership and they must be gold plated cuz the total price is around $20 US. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
