Gotcha.
Are their rings top quality? I had 0 issues with the Goetze and really am kind of leaning on putting the Goetze on my new pistons.
Top quality and OEM supplier. I've got Mahle rings to put in my rebuild, made in Germany
Used KS rings in Porsche stuff for years, no worries.
They should be good. So far , no complaints on the cheapo Grants ($20/set) I have in the Jetta I have been running for 30+ k miles.
I have heard some bad stuff about the Prothe and Grant rings, so good job to you sir getting the first 30,000 out with no issues.
I just know that once I got the oil leaks sorted I never had to add oil. I added about 1/2 a quart from the first start to when I discovered my oil leak. After the oil leak and running syth oils I never had to add one drop of oil and that was with 7,000 mile oil changes. MY POINT: the Goetze rings did not let my engine burn a drop of oil and I want to know if the KS will do the same.
The other kicker is I have both Goetze and the KS rings in the .020" over, but I don't know what to do.
If you have both in the correct sixe and you are pleased with the previous performance of the Goetze rings then i would fit those.
Might not be any better but the placebo effect from not having to worry and having confidence in them is worth it imho.
