2000 tdi into vanagon
« on: June 01, 2012, 10:41:57 am »
Hi, I'm wondering which year TDI's are the easiest to swap into a stock diesel vanagon.?  I have the chance to get a running 2000 from a jetta for a good price.  Thanks, Paolo

not that one... think oil filterhousing/oil pumpp  is your biggest issue with that set u... besides the goofy immobilizer stuff... you want a 96-99.5 golf/jetta/passat set up...

AHU/1Z or Euro AFN (AHU/1Z with VNT) will mount under the engine lid using the stock diesel vanagon parts.  ALH and newer will require either custom engine mounts and protrusion up into the engine lid (bed if westy) and reduced ground clearance or fabrication of a custom oil pan.

Another vote on the 1Z. My FIL put a 1Z into his Syncro. Fits perfect and really works well.
Mine - BMP 20thAE GTI
His - '01 Jetta TDI
Our project: '84 Jetta TD
