Cylinder head Re torque
« on: May 27, 2012, 03:18:22 pm »
Hi All.
Quick question if possible. My lad has just finished the rebuild on his caddy and now on the road. The engine has been rebuilt with new Rings , bearings gaskets etc and is running a treat. The head was torqued on for him by the reconditioner. The engine is a 1.6TD 1V ENGINE CODE.
I am sure that i have read somewhere that the head needs re torqueing after it has been run. Not sure what is the definitive answer as i have read after it has been run and up to normal temp , after 1000miles or so ???.
What is the way to do it?
Any help would be appreciated
Kirk

I was thinking it was 1,000 km but either way they are supposed to be retorqued. They should be the 12mm and are NOT to be loosened, just add 1/4 turn in the same sequence as when you start to torque them IIRC.
