Hey Everyone,
I was looking online for some resources for first gen mounts and some nice pictures when I cam across this website.
Full credit to the owners of the site, this is not my material/work:
http://www.vintagewatercooleds.com/tech/2007/a1-engine-mounts/The above site might have some cleane pictures for our first gen VW's.
Also I am putting a AAZ into a 83 Jetta and ran into a mount issue on the passenger engine mount(common problem from what I hear).
I did some research and suposedly you can use this bracket mk1 gasser bracket
http://www.vintagewatercooleds.com/tech/Techtips/Timbotechnotes/mounts/pics/mounts_10.jpg but need to flaten out the lip to make it fit the aaz block.
I haven't pulled the AAZ out just yet, so I can't determine if this is necessary to flaten out this bracket.
Alternatively I have the orginal MK1 diesel engine bracket that I can hack up, and I like this bracket better because it is much stronger than the gasser MK1 passenger engine bracket.
Let me know what you think.
Does your AAZ engine have the traditional IDI twisting of the pump to adjust the timing? or is it the movable pulley? Either way thinking back I do not think it matters.
I would use the 1.6D bracket in its entirety, and just bolt your AAZ pump to it. You may have to get creative with the timing belt cover though. The AAZ pump WILL fit the bracket, and the bracket WILL fit on the block.
Yeah i think you can use a petrol engine mount on the (driver's side for me) or you can just cut the 1.6D's mount down so it doesn't have the pump mount on it. I think

it's what i've done for my TDi into the caddy
