1.9TD caddy conversion drive shafts
« on: April 20, 2012, 02:48:31 pm »
Hello folks
Need help in trying to figure out the correct drive shafts to use for my engine and gear box swap.
My Rabbit pickup is a 1981 model.
The donor engine and gear box came out of a 1994 golf 1.9 TD AAZ.
The old drive shafts out of the Caddy don't fit and the 1994 Golfs drive shaft won't work either.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

If it's just an 020, it should work. I imagine you will have to swap either the trans flanges down to 90mm or the inner CV's on the Caddy axles up to 100mm.

1991 Jetta TD - sold :(

to use the new flanges (100mm) you require 16v rocco axles... or get 90mm flanges for a mk2 020 or late mk1 020... aka spring loaded flanges...

fyi gotta mod the spindel or outter 100mm joint to fit... else when nut tightened up it will be dead locked...

you cannot just put the mk3 100mm inner cv on the old shafts... they do not fit..
