If you can - get the Monroe Boot-Bump Stop kits too.
Also lifetime stuff.
Good bumpstops make a world of difference.
Its wild how so many have such different results.
I love the SensaTracs and think they are great.
But i dislike KYB GR-2
I'd probably like Gas-A-Just , but they didn't have fronts for Mk1.
SensaTracs are gas charged.
And they haven't been out for all that long.
I wonder if some are confusing the cheaper grade Monroes - like MonroeMatics and whatnots of past.
ya know what, i think your right, come to think of it..

I too enjoy my sensa-tracs. I would probably have enjoyed those 5-way adjustable Tokico's we were once talking about BVZ a little more.. but these are
great for the $30 a strut I paid..
Yeh man, the RockAuto price does put an extra cherry on top. lol
Those Tokico's were superbadazz units.
for the rich and famous - and gokart track racers.
I just want to be able to make a late turn once in a while without rolling over. And slip into parking lot entrances a lil too fast when traffic is tight.
They're good products.
I think they replaced the former Monroe Reflex units when they came out.

im not trying to be partial to KYBs just because i own lots, but i REALLY LOVE the way they handle. they are not harsh like a gas-a-just, but they are firmer than stock struts..
for the money, i love KYB struts.. i got my fronts for under $100, and they came LOADED in housings, not just as inserts.. i didnt have to re-use the stock housings..
They do not claim to be a sport strut. Also I was comparing quality, not the struts physical capabilities. Clearly a touring and sport strut are valved differently.
Monroe was the pioneer of struts and shocks, and has been making them longer than koni and bilstein.
Understood.
I love bilsteins, I've never owned koni's but have so rarely heard a bad word about them and I like kyb's gr-2s and gas-a-just for a nice balance of budget friendliness and handling characteristics.
Oh for sure, Koni makes a great strut. I haven't really heard anything bad about them either.. If funds were right I would have had a set of the Koni STR.T or whatever they are called.
I finally replaced the junk Gabriels with the Monroes last week and man what a difference. This thing is a joy to drive now. Nice smooth ride and decent cornering.
The front gabriels where toast, after I removed them I pushed the shaft in and it stayed. Never did come back out. The store that I bought them from refunded the money on all four with no questions at all.
For anyone out there looking at struts whatever you do, DON'T USE GABRIELS of any sort.
Did you fill the housings with coolant, oil, or something to transfer the heat? Didn't see mention of that on the old or the new.
