those brackets only came on old mk1 with the twin tube down pipe... anything with the clips to manifold had no brackets as the pipe was ment to vibrate at the clip point..

just by reading the initial post, i thought he was referring to a twin tube ancient mk1 downpipe.. those DO INDEED have a bracket that bolts to the bottom of the collector, and the engine block..

and correct again, the clip-on downpipe just mounts with those 2 clips.. no other brackets.. no need really.. the toilet bowl is a HUGE flex joint, and the clips are just retention springs..

the toilet bowl is very functional as a flex joint.. but performance wise, it sucks..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

i guess thats what i get for asking vwvortex first if there was such a thing made for the mk2 single outlet downpipe.  see i swore my last mk2 had a downpipe bracket - it just must have been a dual outlet though added on.  i thought maybe there was a bracket bc the exhaust on the newest mk2 really moves a bunch, and even with a new exhaust donut gasket and new clips if i pour some soapy water on the manifold you can see some bubbling where its leaking a little.  so the toilet bowl flexes huh?  interesting

You're talking about this right?

Single tube downpipe. 1985. MK2. There's a bracket that holds the downpipe to the exhaust manifold (the rest of the exhaust moves freely though). 2 bolts through the manifold, 2 through the downpipe.

IDK what you are all talking about. As for OP, do you have any fabrication skills, I don't think it would be all that hard to make one.

nah not that mount on the mani.  it would have been for the part of the exhaust below the clamps.  as someone stated above apparently the dual outlets had one, but not single outlets.  i was wrong, the way mine is is correct, just as yours is, for the single outlet.  i guess its supposed to bounce around quite a bit.  i supposed fabbing something could be done but why bother if thats how it is stock

The problem is the way you worded your original posts here and on Vortex.
Can't see inside your head through the www - or even person to person.
What we are showing you are Mk2 DownPipe Brackets - per title.

From Faktry
NA Diesels have exhaust manifolds and headpipes.
TD's have exhaust manifolds that the Turbo bolts to - a DownPipe - and a headpipe.

These are Mk2 DownPipes with Brackets - that Baja and i are posting.
All day long - thats what they are. Your terminology is the basic flaw.

I was original reponder to your original post on Vortex, based on your post.
Will try to remember not to do that again. My apology.

i guess somewhere along the way i confused downpipe with headpipe maybe?  although if you search downpipe to buy one it gives you the part below the clamps (the part i wanted to "contain").  i just created a misunderstanding with myself about your original post on vortex and got a couple responses here so my mind came around to what i actually should have been looking for (not that it exists for my application anyway).  only after the fact did i realize i had terms misunderstood.  so i owe you an apology.  your post on vortex was fine, and you're right, my terminology was wrong.

so bottom line is the actual part i'm looking for does not actually exist unless you have the dual mani

title says mk2 not mk1...

next any down pipe on a mk2+ (thru new 2012 vw) does not have a bracket.. even later flex jointed bolt to manifold do not have them.. those are twin tube (newer 99.5+ are single mostly).. why i referance this... even with the bolt on down pipe they went to the chineese finger torcher device looking vibration thinggy..

so unless you got a mk1.. a twin tube down pipe the brckets do not exist..

now you may be thinking how the mk2  (and later) cars have a shield on the back of the motor to prevent cooking the inner cv boot... they use th esame bolt holes the bracket goes on with..
