I'm having some trouble with oil pressure on my fresh built AAZ. When I let the car idle, the light flashes. Rev it a little and it goes out. But as soon as I start driving the high pressure alarm starts going off (beeping). I've put in new switches and checked the wiring, all good. So now I've got two oil filled mechanical gauges. What pressures should I see at the head and at the oil stand at idle?
I'm using a gasser oil stand with the 'choke' pulled out. I drilled the 'closest to the block' hole for the oil feed line. I put high pressure switch in the hole after that. I'm hoping the gasser stand is my issue, I really don't wanna pull the engine back out and pull it all apart.
Did you replace ALL the bearings? That inner IM shaft bearing is a major pressure loss if not in new condition.
All bearings were new. IM bearings were new and installed correctly.
With fresh oil My past experience (on 1.6 td) is a minimum of 7-10 psi at idle, all my readings are taken from the oil filter outlet near where the turbo is fed, not from the head. The problems I had long ago was with the oil cooling jets not sealing properly. But I'm not sure on a AAZ, I think they are different design jets and don't have the seal issues a 1.6 has.
The engine cool, should get 60-70 psi and drop down to 7-10 when full warm. I have over 20psi at 2000 rpm as bently suggests on my 1.6 At speed 2800-3000 about 30 psi running roughly at 200-210° oil temp.
I was given the wrong rod bearings. I asked for first oversize and got standard.
Now this engine made it through complete assembly and checking, even put in the car and started? and that was missed? That sux, glad it's fixed.
Correct bearings in. Still no oil pressure.
