http://eugene.craigslist.org/pts/2833488171.html  This help?    Edit:  Found this when looking for something else.  http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/2833813719.html  Just posted today so call em,  You take the extra engine I'll take the car.  We can split the cost.

Getting down that far (Eugene) from where you are at is a bit of a go.  Maybe if you set something up I can bring it half way to Portland on a trip up.  They you and "that other Astoria guy" can come get it.

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

Well the Rabbit that had the 1.9 in it and that came with an extra 1.9 was sold around noon today.  I just got back from a run across town looking at a Caddy with a turbo diesel in it.  Cranked and sprayed fuel all over from the injectors.  Kind of rough and leaking inside and had 245 K on it.  Had a tach on it.  What year did they start doing that?  84?  Engine and tranny swapped so maybe the instrument cluster as well.

Guy said he generally yanks the diesel and puts in a gasser.

That is more or less why I walked away.  It was heavily modded in that regard, even had a huge oil cooler on the front under the bumper.  Had set for years under some tree or something and the paint was nasty even in the engine compartment.  If the guy pulls the engine he may give me a call to see if I want it.  I would have liked the turbo and exhaust but he was pulling them for one of his other 4 caddys he said.

You guys combing the Craigslist autoparts by owner for the Portland and Vancouver areas then?  Since I drive half way downstate I expand my searches to the Corvallis and Eugene and once in awhile Roseburg areas.

My trouble is that I only do the drive every other weekend and stuff seems to come and go when I am on the other side of the pond.  Parts available in Portland when I am not or the other way around.  Folks sell em before I can get there.

Good factory rebuilt 1.6D N/A with 5 speed from an '82 Rabbit. Probably 20K on the motor. I drove the car until the tabs ran out and sold the body. $700 I am south of Seattle. OR somebody sell me a 2 door rabbit body.

Still searching. Someone help a brother out

want an AWESOME running 1.5D?

im JUST ABOUT READY to part with my spare engine..

it was the last 1.5 i built, great stock bore OEM block, less than 100k miles, no cracks..

just lemme know bro.. it will get your car running/driving, but wont be a power house, or something that you will be able to boost to the moon.. if you decide to boost a 1.5, you need to either keep boost low-er-ish, or buy head studs, witch isnt a bad idea on ANY VW DIESEL..

Wish you were closer...  (I'm in San Jose, CA and looking for a engine and 5 speed to swap into my pickup.)

Regardless, bump!
