yes, all my mk2s with vacuum heaters had a/c from the factory.

and all my factory non-a/c cars had cable controlled boxes.

FWIW, you can use a cable or vac controlled heater box on either an a/c, or non-a/c equipped car. the actual heater boxes are interchangeabgle..

Oh really? Nice to know.
 That's something they did different on the MK1s. You have to do some welding in the raintray to swap the different heater boxes.
