Oil Dip Stick Tube Removal

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......................................How in the flip do you get it out without damage? By the time I get a good enough grip, the tube is crushed.
And no torches (Open Flames) are allowed.
I am talking about the little short ones that stick out of the block without any support straps.
As always mr phelps.....any and all help is appreciated.

I spose you could take the oil pan off and hammer it Out. I broke mine off one time.... That led to me ruining my.motor....
You should be able to just yank it out though.

I drilled mine out with a twist drill. I think it was a 5/16 (it has been so long now) Then made up a new tube with some steel tubing (1/4?) to the correct length inserting it with some JB weld epoxy after all was suitably cleaned. Just make sure that the tubing you use is close to 5/16 OD as the VW piece is 8 mm I believe. Four years later it is still doing its job. There is no need to disturb the pan and gasket

Tanks for the replies.
Am trying to get one from P&P. I will see if I can come up with something to use as a punch.
I have one off a 90 something 2.0 that will start into the block, then it stops. I do not want to drill out the block to fit this one. And tring to heat the block up enough to "slip" it in......By the time I am done, something would be cooked.
I guess the punch would have an inner and an outer dia. To keep from deforming the tube. Any idea of the VW Tool number?
Again...tanks to you all!

I've had some success with a small lag bolt/screw attached to a slide hammer.

As far as drilling it out, I am trying to get one to replace the "messed up" one curently in place. The "repairs" keep .....ummmmmm ...... "failing"
Although, the super glue and toweling strips have held out the longest.
Lag bolt and slide hammer with vice grips on the outside.........Sounds good to me.
