I started to put my turbo on yesterday and I have a conflict with the rear motor mount. I have the factory pan and the drain line, but they want to go right through the mount area, and I bought the original stuff for my 86 jetta. I have seen comments about the rear motor mount conflict but didn't pay much attention as I didn't think it would apply. There must be two locations for the pan bung, so I heated up the top drain piece and bent it left and will be welding the bung into a new location. My jetta has a foam piece on the axle that is in the way but I can avoid this I believe, just keeping it at the same level as the factory location. Any tips for this or other pans for sale?
It's tight
I pulled the drain off my car and rebuilt the turbo
The line was in 3 pcs
A pc that bolted to the turbo and has a gasket and at the other end a flex pc was clamped on then another steel line at the bottom that has a compression type nut attached to the pan
The flex line was Teflon lined and steel braided outer, it was collapsed
Nothing would flow thru it
I replaced that with 5/8" turbo drain hose
It's a tight fit getting the line down thru the area ahead of the mount
Is the TD engine mount different?
There may be a relief to allow the line to fit
My email is
[email protected]I can send pix of the actual mount and alignment

I think black forest industries has a new pan.
So the factory alignment is underneath that motor mount? It didn't look possible, so I was investigating other options. The bentley had no pictures showing the drain line, and said to mount the drain line before mounting the turbo to the manifold. What is the best way to put the assembly down in there, mounted to the manifold already or in pieces and bolt it together in place?
There are pics on here of the mount with a passageway through it for the oil return line.
See if you can find the proper mount so it will go together nicely.
Not all return lines are routed through the motor mount, it's actually rare.
But you already have the pan and return line for that setup so the mount would make it all work.
Thanks, FM. I have searched for the pics and come up empty, I will try my drain line and see if it goes behind the mount.
