Feeler WTB 1.6 12mm mechanical head
« on: February 04, 2012, 09:10:35 am »
I am looking for a 1.6  12mm mechanical head. I need one sometime and topline is saying 8 weeks until they can ship. I would prefer that the casting is in perfect condition and low miles. I don't care how bad the valves, guides, seals, etc are as I will be replacing all of that. Let me know what you have price wise and I will consider. Topline bare head will be 369.00 and I kind of think being brand new it may have an advantage precup wise over one that has thousands of miles, just let me know what you all have and I will think. Thanks Lucas><>

I've got one off a 1984 Jetta. High miles (KMs actually, came off a Canadian car that made it all the way to Birmingham). It's straight, and I had the face cleaned up on a quality cutter, but the seats may be pitted due to briefly standing water in one or two cylinders. I haven't pulled the valves to see how bad they are.

Not likely your cup of tea, but if you get antsy, I can pull the valves and inspect the seats.

What are you looking to pay for one? Looking for a good head or  a core?

225.00 shipped. What I am really wanting is a casting with a cam. My main concern is it having low miles. I don't care if it isn't straight or needs every valve. I just want a new(er) low mile casting. Wouldn't have to have the cam, but I kind of want it.
