Identify T3 1.6TD turbo pump
« on: October 29, 2011, 06:27:30 am »
I am looking for a good working 1.6TD T3 (with the LDA-actuator)
A week back i was bidding on ebay for a good one, but i fall a sleep so,
I found another one but the seller says its for a 1.6/1.9 as well.
Is it shure the pump will fit? i thought there are 2diffrent diameters at the main shaft.
Please let me know what is your opinion, maybe i better wait for a better discription?

this is the one i am following, but the bidding ends in 7h from now.

The main shaft stayed the same across the 1.9AAZ and the 1.6, but it was changed for the TDIs.

I'm guessing the pump you're looking at is the '109' style instead of the '107' on the earlier 1.6's.  The 109 has a better cold start system than the earlier pumps so it's a worthwhile "upgrade".  You do want to know though if it's an AAZ pump or not as they have a basically "joke" LDA, so you'll still be looking for LDA parts.  There's also some emissions stuff on some of the AAZ pumps that can  be a problem so you will definitely want to know what you are getting.

Finally some of the AAZ pumps have a different style pulley and are timed differently...

If you can post a link, someone might be able to tell you a bit more...

Thats a Vanagon TD pump. The LDA is on its side due to clearance the engines top lid.

yup, i thought the regular LDA wouldnt clear the lid.

so its gotta be for a transporter or vanagon.

I've a spare GTD pump sat here, but I'm in the UK.

It's gov-modded but I can set it back to standard if you wish.
