Dial indicator pump timing adaptor
« on: October 22, 2011, 07:51:25 pm »
so, i have a dial indicator now, a couple actually, but none of them are specifically for injection pump timing..

can you get just the adapter, and extension piece for a dial indicator? maybe i remember prothe selling a kit like that?

anyways, was i imagining things? and you cant get an adapter? or is there actually an adapter you can get that you can use any standard style dial indicator?

well, if that kit from snap-on is only 20 bucks, then i imagine i can order it thru my college and get it..

the thing i like about the snap on kit, is that theres no set screw..

and, FWIW, i didnt find a link on post #12 on either page, so i just went thru ALL the links..

What one?

Guess i should have posted "Reply #12", but you found it, so all is good.

The Snap On one is nice, but since they whack you with the shipping, order another pin.  They surprise you with the shipping charge when the package arrives at your door.

Or just spend the $75 and buy a new one. Not from Snap Off, of course, but several tool places sell the stuff pretty reasonably. I scored another IP indicator set along with a cam lock plate, cam follower depressor, timing belt adjuster tool, and a gas injector puller for $85 off of the CL. All I wanted was the depressor (since mine had disappeared) and figured I would get it for free and make some bucks selling off the rest when a guy emailed me the link to a couple of places that had the indicator set for $75. Luckily the guy who bought it for $85 didn't know that.

I bunged my cam lock plate the other day. We will see how good the Snap Off guaranty is next time I see the tool truck.

I ended up with an extra Rabbit cam follower depressor, if anyone needs one.
