My VNT vanes are connected to a lever on the dash so this would be easy for me to try,
 thanks for pointing this out,
 sounds like a fun experiment.

Did you ever try this? And do you have problems with your vanes sticking? Mine are jammed to 50% of travel in about 2 days and then i have to work the vanes by hand to loosen them up.
