K14 gasket ???

My local parts house is having some problems with this, so I'd thought I would ask...Is there a gasket between the turbo and the exh. manifold?  They can't seem to find one in the catalogues...

  Apparently 96 was the changeover year from the k14 to the k24, so there might be a couple of different options?

there is no gasket., make sure both surfaces are perfectly straight

I have a k14, k24 and a t3
From 3 different cars: 1984 jetta, 1991 Eco diesel, and 1985 MF turbo diesel jetta
All use the same gaskets
I bought from emiata.com/prothe/Hans autohaus/or whatever he's going by today
Theres a set of 2 metal gaskets
You only need the one that's angled in on the 2 sides

It seems that there is some discrepancy as to whether these turbos even got a gasket or not. I have to chalk one up for the no-gasket-needed side, as when I received my K14 (complete with mani), there was no gasket.

I've pulled the turbos off all 3 of my cars - my 91 jetta with 1985 MF engine (T3), 2 parts cars- 91 Eco diesel (K14) and 84 turbo diesel (K24)
All had gaskets (as I recall)
Why wouldn't you use a gasket if you can get one?
It's only about $7
It makes an isolation between the 2 metal surfaces

The Bentley states there is no gasket. Any gaskets available out there are 3rd party and not actually required. As Trevor mentioned, just make sure the surfaces are clean.

Correct. You do not need a gasket unless the metal surfaces are damaged. It would be a good idea to file down the high spots that normally form around the bolt holes but it probably isn't required. Some people use a very, very thin bead of RTV but personally I just go metal on metal.
