We really don't due gifts here, so I usually treat myself to my own gift (and buy something for my parents)
The car got a USRT shift kit, and short throw. I got the sticker it came with. I think she'll like it.

I got my car a 3" stainless downpipe and I spent a lot of time inside her rear end

(brakes), installed her snow tires and just generally fingered about until she seemed satisfied.
If I don't give her a good touching every now and then she's likely to blow a head gasket or fifth gear or something. She is so demanding.

Do please post pics of that install. I have heavily considered that. Although I fully realize its probably overkill for my Eco.

Buy once, cry once. It really was not that expensive. Really well made kit with delrin parts and nice spherical joints, plus an added shift weight. I can't wait to install it, but currently the engine build is most important: january is when all that's going together.

I installed the full usrt kit in my 91 jetta
I found some of the Delrin pcs to be either too tight on the outside or inside
I ended up fine tuning with sand paper
I installed only the Delrin bushings on a friends 85 jetta
Again I had to fine tune with sand paper
Fit each bushing one at a time on to the bolt they are supposed to fit and also inside the hole that receives it (without the bolt inside the bushing). If it feels too tight inside or out grind it down a little
And test the fit of the bushing in the hole and slide the bolt into it to check for free movement
If the bushing is tight going in, the bolt will be too tight
After everything is installed, there are 3 rods with heim fittings, with the tranny in neutral and in each gear, grab each of those rods and be sure there is atleast a tiny bit of torsional play - try to spin on the ball joint
If not, I found my shifting was real tight
Turned out the 2 heim fittings on one rod were fighting each other
Also
I rubbed a little white lithium grease on all heim balls

There is one picture of a mock up that is wrong
And I followed it. The bushing/spacers that press into the arm that is on the tranny is upside down in his pic
The instructions with the kit (or online) are - basically nothing, no assembly info
It does make for a good functioning and solid looking set up
