Who sells a brass freeze plug kit for the 1.6?
I know Pep Boys has a package of assorted sizes, well they did the last time I bought them and that must have been 10+ years ago.

no, you should be asking:
"who has 36.5mm soft plugs"
there not very common.. and i know you can get them at napa auto parts for about 10 bucks..
everywhere i can get them, they are an order in part only.. never enough demand for VW freeze plugs..

Right, because mayle will try to sell you plugs that fit too loose.
Dorman is a good brand to buy,.. I think I got mine at NAPA but don't have the part number handy.

mine were dorman also.. good fit.
i bought the last one the parts store had, so no part number off the box. and its installed in the car, so it would be a bit hard to look at the number..

Thanks. I usually prefer brass though, it looks nice when painted.
I'll check Napa.
I did just come across this.
http://www.dormanproducts.com/catalog/ExpansionPlugApps.pdf
It looks like the 1.6 used (4) 36.5 mm for the block, (2) 9/16 for the block, (1) 61/64 for the head.
