Quick HG question
« on: June 02, 2011, 09:52:17 am »
Sorry for probably not searching through forum thoroughly, but I have quick question that needs straightforward answer, and am in the middle of studying for exams so I do not have much time to search.

Anyway, here's the question:

I have blown headgasket on my SB engine. Is a metal HG bolt on swap, or it needs some modifications?
And what will I get/lose with metal HG?

Cheers

P.S. Again, sorry for not searching thoroughly.

bolt on upgrade. if you upgrade to head studs at the same time, you can run more boost. but you need accompanying mods before you leave your pump stock, and crank the turbo up to 30 psi..

if you just buy an AAZ metal gasket, and stock bolts, it will be a slight upgrade over the stock gasket. the bolts are the weak point now, with a metal gasket..

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

the ability to seal less than perfect surfaces..

basically, your head and block need to have really flat surfaces for the metal gasket to seal correctly.
