Feeler: 84 Jetta 1.6 TD engine
« on: May 27, 2011, 06:06:55 am »
Would like to replace the 1.6TD engine in my 84 Jetta with an AAZ. Would anyone be interested in buying the 1.6? I pulled it out of the car last March, replaced the intermediate shaft bearings, resealed the engine and the injection pump and reinstalled it. It runs good, still gets 45mpg but the compression is a little low in #4. When I had the head off it looked great as far as cracking but there was some play in the guides. #4 has a bit of a ridge on the top of the bore. A rebore and valve job will make this motor new again.Valves for the solid lifter engines are pretty cheap, you can get a good deal on pistons at gowestyautoparts.com  The engine itself is very clean as it is from a Florida car, no rust on the turbo, injector pipes oil lines etc. I'd like to sell it and then remove it from the car so a potential buyer can drive it maybe or at least see a video of it running on youtube or something. I need the money to go towards accessories for the AAZ. I will be needing the injection pump bracket (unless a buyer has another one to exchange), clutch PP flywheel, and all the pulleys and brackets. Honestly all I would replace on this engine is pistons/rings, valves/guides/stem seals, and the head gasket and bolts. Nothing else, it's all good or new last March. It has a one piece rubber valve cover gasket.

Price? I dunno make me an offer.
