TDI head porting link
« on: January 24, 2006, 07:02:32 am »
Found an interesting thread on another forum that discusses TDI head ports and porting.  It's got some cool pictures of the TDI intake and exhaust ports molded.  That foam mold stuff is pretty cool.

I've wondered what can be done (and how much) to the swirl lump in the TDI's ports.. that thread is definitely interesting, thanks for the link. I'm looking forward to his results (in a running TDI).

Good link Jake...wondering if this is the same guy that everyone is suggesting on TDI club to have them ported by? Only a few have been done from what I know of...

I'm with malone...it'll be interesting to see the flow data... I'm worried about that low end power...
i'll be cleaning the castings up a bit and port matching like i did on the IDI TD motor I used to run,  but not going crazy... will be gladly staying away from the swirl duct...until i see info that suggests oetherwise...

Sounds like a good plan....pics would be awesome.

Actually, my TDI head look great at 126k. No pitting on the valves, etc. The only exception was how much the intake and ports themselves were clogged with soot/carbon... but that is normal for a TDI ...
