ip laying on its side??
« on: May 18, 2011, 02:39:06 am »
Hi
I need to know if itīs possible to lay the pump on itīs side.
I have a polo diesel and the pump is turning left and is laying on its side so to say.
But now im in need of a lda, but my quest is is it possible to take a lda from a golf SB pump and install on mine?
will it work due to the fact that my pump is turning the "wrong" way, its laying down on itīs side etc etc.

Can any one help me with this information.

I was thinking that i maybe i could use a pump from T3 JX 1.6td with lda, but its hard to find here in sweden.

from the pics of polos that ive seen, it looks like it would be hard to fit an LDA on one of those pumps. the backwards rotation wouldnt even matter. if it did, you could snag a volvo or audi diesel LDA, both of those pumps are rigged up like the polo..

86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

The rotation of the mainshaft of the injection pump doesn't matter to the LDA, but the rotation of the accelerator lever does.  If your accel lever rotates CCW when increasing fuel, then you could use a golf/jetta or even T3(JX) lda provided it will fit.  If you use the JX lda, you will likely need to custom bend the injection lines.  I don't think tipping the pump over on it's side will affect it's operation.

it shouldnt affect the LDAs opperation, but being that the pump is sideways, there may be something obstructing the LDA from even properly fitting..
