The axles are going back in my car, and I am wondering how much grease to pack into the inner CV joints? I ran a search and couldn't find anything.
Bentley says 45g or 1.5 oz.
There is a dedicated amount! HAH I always just packed them right full... oops lol
and you are supposed to use CV joint grease, not wheel bearing grease..
so there is a specialized grease? I was just using regular grease.
Yuppers... CV joint grease is specially formulated for the high contact pressures the bearing surfaces endure.
Okay, thanks again, I will get some of that.

Meh... dunno how much it really matters... "right full" is probably good.
I do know that some vendors sell it in little 45g packages.. that's how I buy it...when the package is empty I'm done.

I keep a tube of the StaLube CV joint grease around, but most of the CV axles I have bought come with a packet or two of CV joint grease as well:

It's usually a moly/graphite based grease: and it's not just used due to high pressures.
Water will not wash it off, ever. Soap hardly touches it.
Moly-graph, sold in normal grease-gun tubes will work, and is much cheaper.
