I took 2 GM cats to scrap a month ago, and about fell over when he told me $300..

Apparently the larger GM cats, and a lot of import cats have a high platinum content.. The after market cats are only bringing about $20 or so.. The last few I took only brought $128 a pop.. He was telling me the price dropped 15% after the shake rattle and roll in Japan...
This wasn't a run of the mill scrap yard either.. This guy specializes in scrap auto parts.. Core engines diffs, and trannies $16/100lbs.. Alternators, starters, various dc motors, and ac compressors $0.50/lb.. Carburetors, turbos, and electronic modules vary from next to nothing up to $50 or so pending what exactly you got.. The catch is that most of the stuff has to e fairly in tact.. No headless engines!
