like title says, some one i know said there 1.9td they bought for 500 bucks was pushing 48psi, i know this is BS cause a stock motor wouldnt handle it..was he lied to? lol
Sure, why not. But where would you need 48psi.
The motor was prob $500 because they blew it up with 48 psi..
A stock motor MIGHT be able to handle a spike of that high.. but i doubt it. If it ran that way there is no way it is stock.. Not to mention the stock turbo could simply never move that much air in 5000 rpms of the motor.
i know someone that used to run 35-40 psi with t3 and k24 turbos on his 1.6td and then later on his tdi-m. eventually the turbine wheel went flying through down pipe. i think its possible, but a very very bad idea. if you can get enough heat blowing out the exhaust you could make 48 psi, but 48psi from the tiny turbo on a 1.9 or even a 1.6 for that matter is not going to put out boost that is going to make power, its going to be hot nasty air, and its going to kill the turbo in short order which could potentially send shards of metal down the intake stream.
send shards of metal down the intake stream.
...which may sound like an awesome thing, but in practicality it actually isn't!
What injection pump does it have? I don't think a 9mm head pump can put enough fuel in to burn 48psi of air so if he had a reasonable turbo setup, it wouldn't necessarily be all that much stress on the engine itself. That being said, it would still take a fair bit to get any turbo spooling that much
Russell is running that on a VERY modified AAZ, but blew up the previous one at 45psi.
i heard of a guy a while back.. had a modified AAZ that was running 45 psi. had to have custom machined main caps tho..
that thing i believe was running 45 psi.. the one you looked at, i doubt for a second it RAN at 45psi..
