Porting
« on: March 17, 2011, 06:48:36 am »
I have a giles pump, the performance cam, bigger turbo and I am debating about having the head ported, this all going into my from gas to diesel 1.9 idi 5-speed build.
Was wondering if this was a worth while investment or would port matching and polishing be enough.
Any thought's appreciated. Thanks.

i would say its worth it, gasket match everything, and then have the ports around the valve seat opened up to match the valve seat and take some of the harshness out of the bend on the exhaust ports, the intake ports actually aren't all that bad on a 1.6, not as big as a 1.9 but they have a nice shape and angle
