Is there a way to disable animated avatars?

You can turn avatars off but I don't think you can disable gifs.

Correct.

Way back when,  before my mod days,  I recall a member here with a bouncing boobies avatar that I felt might be a bit off-putting to our younger viewers...a polite respectful private conversation over PM ensued and the issue was resolved.   ;)

I don't want to lose the avatar images, just the annoying animated ones...
