DIY Dash LED's

How are the lights holdin up after almost a year Ed? Looks stellar, I plan on doing something similar.. just the mk1 heater controls are way different.. not laser etched.. but a screen printed sheet of plastic that the light shines through.. lol

The clear plastic is essential. Just dremel out a spot for the LED's and glue them in. The elmer's clear stuff i used worked well. Model plastic glue would probably be ideal of perhaps cyanoacrylate (super glue)

I would wonder how well model cement would handle vibrations. This is a planned mod for me, however, with all the time spent on the road with work, I'll have to bring the spare parts and mod them.

If you need clear, structural strength, and fast set you can't beat Rite Lok SI 1500. It is thick, gap filling thick and it will hold just about anything. If you don't want the thick version you can get it thinner SI 100 is like water.

 I know loctite has similar stuff that costs more, but is usually easier to find.

The Elmer stuff i used worked really well. Yes, i suppose cement of any kind wouldn't work very well.
you can buy this rubber glue stuff for fixing rain coats, im sure that would work too.

Just an update. My LEDs are still bright as ever.
I want to see other people's work! different colors!
Maybe someone will do a set up with LEDs that cycle through colours?

Wow... Those LED's are nice saur but they are 5 bucks a piece!  :shock:

Anyone got a canadian source for these? Maybe somewhere in sw ontario that I can walk in and buy them off the shelf?

Most auto parts stores do now. I'm sure Canadian tire does.
