Vacuum lines?
« on: September 17, 2012, 09:42:04 pm »
Since the car as been torn apart so long, I forget how the lines are.

Right now it's a straight line from vane-pump to booster. It's supposed to have a check valve (will a DIY ball style work?) and a tee going from the block breather (just has a hose on it, vent to atmosphere.)

What the best way to do this?  The car never had a vane style pump on it, and I've never seen a car with one.

i could be wrong, but you're talking about two things.  The vane style vacuum pump has one line coming out of it, depending on the car you have it may have other connections for air con, but the main line runs straight to the brake booster.

All the new cars I've owned (mk2 & newer) have never had any connection-nothing to do with block breather.  If It's a td the block breather runs back into the intake pipe before the turbo, if na it's directly into the intake in two places.

there is a check valve in the vac pump..

there is also a check valve at the brake booster..

why do you need another check valve being that there are already 2?

i never added another check valve to my brake setup..

be sure your HVAC panel gets the vacuum it needs, unless your car was non-a/c..

the vac hose for the HVAC panel comes from the firewall, its kind of hidden under the wiring harness, near the upper-middle of the firewall..
