Who knows about paint codes?
« on: February 18, 2011, 08:14:16 pm »
I just had a pint of paint mixed up for the golf, had to match it up the old fashioned way.....stare at it, stare at it some more.........

Anyways, then I found a sticker in the trunk that says terracotta perleffekt LC3Z. Translated by google that means, Terracotta pearl paint LC3Z.

So it looks like my burgundyish/maroonish golf used to be pearl colored :-X.

In the 3rd post down here: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3057174/page3 this guy says his car is terracota brown and the code is LC3Z like mine. The color of his is same as mine to......except his is in MUCH better condition.

So can anyone make sense of this?

'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Yeah I'm confused too haha

My paint code sticker (written in german) translates to terracotta pearl paint, the code is LC3Z.

The guy on vortex says his code is LC3Z but the color is terracotta brown. My car is also brownish.

So I'm confused about why mine is called pearl but the code is for brown.

Perleffekt, german for pearl effect. I presume it's like metallic except pearlescent and could apply to any color. It's not pearl white it's pearl orangish-brown?

Yeah, maybe it's technically just called Terracotta and it comes with a pearl effect additive, but the guy on the vortex calls it Terracotta Brown

You can add pearl to any paint, it gives it more depth and changes more depending on light conditions etc, as shown in those pictures on the vortex

Oh yeah, thanks guys that's what I was looking for haha

So if I'd known that was the paint code I could have gotten it mixed by the code and had less messing around and guessing if it's right. Oh well, I'll find out if I got the right color before too long.
