hey I know that guys do the govenor mod, plungerhead change, and timing piston advance mod, has anyone swapped injection pump camplates? would the TDI camplate be a good upgrade for an injection pump?

Reason I ask is that I have a brand new TDI injection pump setting hear that I know has a larger plunger head for more fuel, but if the camplate is a good upgrade then I should do that while I am in there as well

Have you done the pump mods? I am in Fenwick on M66 (right around the corner). I would like to see the insides of the pump before I open mine. I have two RV's both with diesels and VE pumps and I would like to perform these mods. What MPG are you getting with these mods?

No the TDI has too steep of a ramp to work well for the idi motor, you are better to swap in a 1.9TD or a cummins 4bt plate the later is a DI plate but has a much more forgiving curve as well as it has been run with sucess by other people on this board (Deo aka: "therabbittree"). As far as other plates there have been a few other profiles listed with a picture on the board, but those are the only two that I know of or can remeber being used with sucsess, but don't let that stop you from being a pioneer. :wink:

I have not yet performed these modifications, I am planning to do the govenor mod this week. I am not sure what milage that I am getting since I have not ran a tank of fuel through the new turbo diesel yet

I may hold off on the mods until I get on the dyno at school so that I can document the improvements that these mods make

DVST8R, the plunger head from the TDI should be a direct bolt on that will work without a problem correct? Maybe I will get adventurous and try all of these mods on the Injection pump that I have at home

The TDI pump head is not a direct swap without the TDI cam plate, spring seat, springs, guide pins, etc. You'd need a specific 1.9TD cam plate to make use of the TDI pump head while retaining the IDI cam plate profile.

I own an ATM business. The ATM in the Next Door Store is mine. We maintain the ATM on the corner of 57 and 66 Marathon Station. We have ATM's all over the state that we own or operate. Our office is actually in Ionia but we are moving it to Sheridan in the near future.

I haven't tested the tdi cam plate but from what I've heard it just won't run the best.

How about the "guts " from a 2.3 peogeot TD

I get them for $10. from the local pican'pul yrds around here .I'm getting ready to do this swap (aka known as a frankenpump) building a LDA pump from a NA pump... This last pump I picked up also has a 10mm head too........ and a fuel cutoff lever . I haven't seen the cam plate yet so I canot comment on it. Interesting that the peogeot turbo's use 130 bar injectors,,,, not the 150's that the volks use... :lol:

Not all of the Peugeot pumps are 10mm. Some are also 9mm. From what I've seen, the cam plates are also identical. I'm running a Peugeot pump head on my car now and I can't complain. Something you might be interested in - most of the 10mm Peugeot pumps I've seen use a smaller LDA pin than the VW one. It's 1mm smaller in diameter....just in case that affects your plans.
