Ahh the first butterfly in the throttle-body-ish thing?  It cycles key on/off, it's not filthy looking in there, diesely but not caked on crud.

Well, figured it out friday night, turbo exploded.  Odd failure too, no warning, no noise, nothing, just violent failure.  Enough such that it TOTALLY blocked intake airflow and the motor would not start, I'm assuming the intercooler is stopped up with oil and metal.
Odd note, there were metal shavings as far up as the airbox outlet, how that happened I don't know, but it did. 
Upgrade time I suppose...
