European Halfcuts, Drivetrains, etc. Importers?
« on: February 10, 2011, 12:33:43 am »
The Japanese car market here is awash in JDM takeout motors and halfcuts; basically complete cars cut in half & for parts only.

Does anyone know of a business or individual doing this for European cars, specifically VWs & Audis?

I am very dissatisfied with the selection of modern TDIs available here.
I want a TDI Passat 6-spd 4-Motion wagon. I know they make them, but we can't have them.
I guess I'll have to build one from a local vehicle; now I need the Euro donor.

If no one is doing this, who here wants to go in on a container together, and ship in some choice cut parts cars for drivetrain swaps, along with complete 1986 & older vehicles, like Syncro Transporters, DOKAs, Golfs, etc. that can be registered here in the States legally and easily.

He's a possibility, I'm hoping for someone closer to the east coast.
I wasn't thrilled with the "rebuilt" AAZ I bought from him a few years ago. ::)

It's a short run from Dusseldorf over to Port Newark, I could probably get a container here cheaper than Thomas gets them...
I need a partner here with storage space. ;D
