hey all. i have an 81 diesel pickup im looking to sell. been hard to come up with a fair price based on all the ads for these trucks i've seen. they seem all over the place. was hoping some of you could help me out. any input would really be appreciated. here's the info:
bought it for $1500.00 bout 4 years ago. it had 60,000 on a rebuild, ive put about 15,000 on it since. have put a bunch of money into it replacing brakes, tie rods, new shocks, new muffler, rebuilt pump, new expansion tank, most motor mounts, various bearings filler neck, etc, etc. got backed into about three years ago so door and side panel are dented. no frame damage or anything. windshield has a non-traveling crack. no rust, towers look good. tags been expired for two years and in the insurance thing with the accident i had no choice but to take a stupid small check and total out the vehicle. so salvaged title it will be. starts and runs really easily, no cracks on the dash, seats good, compression seems good.some oil in the intake, little leaky from the block.
think thats it. any help would really be appreciated. im just trying to put up a fair price and not screw someone or myself. thanks for your time!
Pics of the caddy will help us help you. IMHO a salvage or otherwise branded title on something this vintage has little significance especially if the damage was minor and was recorded.
kinda figured that about the salvage title thing. i'll post some pics later. thanks for you response
it also depends on where you are in the country. diesels go for a premium in california, especially in the bay area. hence my overpriced klack boxes. still love them though.
im in southern, ca. south of l.a.

Actually while indeed they go for a premium in California for being a Diesel, they go for more of a premium on the other coast (if they are from California!) just for the fact that there is "something left of them" vs the ones that are in more "rusty areas" like the East coast. I had a PU that went to there for that reason specifically and yes for significantly more than anyone was willing to pay here in California (not to mention the buyer paid +$1000 for shipping, which didn't change what I got but still the buyer still paid $1k more!)
