Yup!  Genuine Blu Blockers..  This thing is dripping 80's....

Pics are coming..  I have it chucked in the small part of the shop, not much room to get good pics.. I hope to get the IP off tonight and push it out somewhere for now...

I'm kind of anticipating being plagued with problems..  IF from nothing else all the stuff that hasn;t aged gracefully..  I think after I have the engine running a bit and see how everything works as as I may pull it, have the heads CC'ed and worked over, arp fasteners everywhere, and replace all those dry rotted seals that are just waiting to leak at any moment...

I gotta say after looking a some of the diagrams of the DB2 pump that thing is hella simple compared to a VE.. I have a seal kit and a flex ring on the way for it.. I really wish I could find some info on modding it, other than turning up the fuel screw..  Maybe there's nothign else to be done to it..

Got my IP parts about a week ago.. FINALLY got the chance to toy with this heap again..  Put the new governor weight retainer and seals in, but no dice on the running..    Pulled the pump apart and this time took the head apart..  Pits and chips on the rotor, and some marks in the housing.. The darn delivery valve is stuck in the rotor as well..  Looks like another casualty of the lack of a water separator..

It appears as though I'm going to need another head for this pump..  Still doing some searching around for one of these, but I'm thinking about the 6.2 pump I have laying around...  I'm wondering how that would work with the fuel turned down..  Injector breaking pressure are supposed to be the same from what I can find..  It would just be a matter of the additional fuel delivered, I think... Not a lot of info out there about DB2 pumps like there is for a VE..

it probably doesnt even deliver MUCH more fuel..

if it delivers more fuel, just turn the idle down..

That's what I was thinking..  A 6.2 isn't that much larger, and sure as heck doesn't deliver that much more power..  I had read somewhere that there was 2 different 6.2 pumps..  One for HD applications and one for Light duty..   THe HD pump, which is what I have, was to have a larger delivery valve and plunger so that it *could* deliver more fuel..

I'll still be using the governor and advance mechanism from the 5.7 so the only thing that *should* be changing is how much fuel it'll be capable of flowing..   That might come in handy for the twin turbo installation...  ;D

will this thing handle that much compounded boost? or are you doing a turbo per manifold? Cuz *** that'd be cool too lol.

What do these big boys spin? 4k? a couple similar in size as a k14? lol or maybe a k04/k03 hybrid?!?

What do you have planned Brettasaurus ?

One turbo per manifold..    ;)   These engines will not hold more than about 7psi max, and that's pushing it...  An electric turbo would probably be the best option for it to actually last...  :P   Being that it's a mid-sized Cutlass it's a pretty tight fit under the hood too..   I'm not even sure where I'm going to mount the updated fuel filter yet..

So as it is no plans for any sort of turbo on this thing, just running would be nice.. No plans of using this as a DD or for long trips either..   This is just going to be one of those toys to have for the sake of having something different.. Luckily the rest of the car is nice enough that I can get historic plates on it..

Yeah, I'm all about that hood ornament..   Not at functional as the cross hairs they put in Lincolns, but cool none the less..

Other than needing some lube, the power windows work as well as the radio and tape player.. I'm pretty confident that A/C probably has no gas left in it..  I bled the brakes and they seem to be working for now..  I still think they're going to get a major overhaul though..  Now if I can get the GPs working and the pump in order I can find out what else does and doesn't work..

I found one of them Olds yesterday :D
Big body car I think, She said something was wrong with it, and her parents left it behind when they moved out.  Looks complete, and might run, but the rat poo is about halfway up the air cleaner...
There is a fancy Racor filter under the hood, so somebody cared about it once.

My  main purpose  was getting the  3-53 Detroit generator chugging happily again, and I got that done at least.

Yum, rat poo!   Ill bet the wiring and upolstery had to be delightful at this point..  That is a shame, diesel or not they were nice cars..   I'm still amazed that there is no evidence of rodents in this Cutlass..  Just damage from time..
