Oil Changed!

I just did an oil change on my 1984 1.6N/A. I have used Mobil Clean 5000 10W-30, Rotella 15W-40, and Mobil Delvac 1300 15w-40 during the first 2500-3000 miles. The engine sounded the same with these three oils. I just changed the oil today with Chevron Delo 400LE 10W-30, and let me say I was shocked how much this oil quieted the motor down on start up. I thought after the engine warmed upped and the oil thinned out a little that the motor would be as loud as the previous three oil brands, but nope, the engine was still as quiet as the first start up with the Chevron Delo. I have heard of stories of people switching oil brands and having the same experiences as myself but in no way was I expecting this!

No it is dino, because I only have about 2500-3000 miles on the motor. They sell the 15w-40 delo everywhere but not the 10w-30. I found a Chevron distributor nearby, it was the same price as the 15w-40 in the stores. Wow, they have five quart containers of the Rotella Synthetic 5w-40 at Walmart! That must be a new thing because for the longest time they only had the four quart containers of the blue bottle Rotella Synthetic!

I got the thinner delo 400 at napa, the local chevron distributer said I was the second guy in 20 years to ask for it so they don't stock it.

Cool! The Napa by my house didn't have the 10w-30. The Chevron distributor didn't stock it but could order it. I bought 2 cases, 3 one gallon jugs in each case, it took about 2 weeks, which wasn't a big deal, $12.50 a gallon. This should last 20,000-25,000 miles, then I may switch to Rotella T-5 semi synthetic or Rotella T-6, or just stay with the Delo.

I hate the gallon jugs, I like to carry spare oil in the rain tray and the gallons never reseal so I get an oily mess. The quarts are good though.
