I am thinking about getting an eurosportacc.com exhaust system for my rabbit mk1 with 1.6N/A. Does anyone have a review of this exhaust system? Is the entire muffler stainless steel or is it just the internals? They have a special of 20% off all their exhaust systems, that is why I am interested in purchasing this. Any information would be great!!! Thanks...
Sounds like an all stainless muffler, although I am a little sceptical about the inlet and outlet tubing. All the other tubing is aluminized steel, so it will all rust out at the welds over time. For that money and the shipping cost, I would find a local shop to do a full stainless system.
Any approximate prices on that custom stainless steel exhaust? Techtonicstuning has a full SS exhaust with Borla muffler for about $400. I went to a couple of exhaust shops and the both quoted me $200 for a crimped bend aluminized piping and stainless no name brand muffler, thats why the Eurosport seemed real good. I'll try and find a shop here in Norcal and Socal who can fab up a SS exhaust system and see how much it will cost, hopefully not more than the TT exhaust system!
I mean mandrel bends are nice, but do four cylinders even flow enough air to be worried about mandrel bends or just crimp bends?
Just a thought, I am looking in to ideas for exhaust as well
I suppose on a dyno or a drag strip the mandrel bent exhaust can make some difference.. I never could really feel that much difference though..
AS far as no name mufflers, a little examination is required, but I'm finding that the no name knock offs to be of equal quality to the name brand less the cost of the stickers that come with them.. Once again a little examination is required, a good look at the construction, and materials used can usually tell you if it's any good or not..
AS far as stainless goes, I'm not up to speed on what all the grades are, but there is some really crappy stainless out there.. I dunno maybe it's a stainless coated pipe or something?
IN this neck of the woods we get our fair share of salt and slop yet I'm finding that the aluminized pipe is holding up nicely.. They coated the welds with some sort of crap and so far not even any noticeable rust there after 5 years.. For a 3rd of the cost of stainless pipe I went with it and fully expect the car to rust apart before I have to put 3 exhaust systems on it..
