Rabbit keeps dying :(
« on: October 18, 2010, 07:52:05 am »
Hiya everyone;
Well, I'm baffled. A few weeks ago, my Rabbit started to buck and chug and slow down dramatically as if she were starved for fuel. I figured it was a clogged fuel filter as I've been running various blends of my Biodiesel for over a year and hadn't changed the filter recently.
So I put in a new one and all was well for about a month. Then yesterday, she acted like there was another clog! I thought that odd cuz the filter usually lasts a LOT longer than that! :o
I changed it yet again and it *seemed* to run all right, but then I just went to go to work and got half way down the road and she died again! WTF? She's acting like there's another clog OR air in the fuel lines, fuel not getting to the IP or something. WTF? I cannot believe the new filter would clog that fast ;) so WTF is going on?? :(
I would like to drain the fuel tank at one point since the Biodiesel seems to have loosed up some gunk in the tank over the years, but the tank is almost full right now so I can't see that being the problem; at least not this soon after I've installed the new filter!!
Help!! :(

You might need to clean the intank screen, get under the rear seat and take off all the covers and it's straight down. I think it has a hole at the top for a wire to hook into or you can use long pliers.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

You might need to clean the intank screen

2X, that would be my guess as well... biodiesel tends to loosen stuff up, and even before this "stuff" clogs your fuel filter up it can restrict the intake screen.
