K-14 Exhaust side port and polish

One of the advantages of the K-14 turbo is its quick spool-up. This is due to its smallish turbine wheel. This creates a bottle-neck in trying to get the exhaust the engine. So, after doing some research on the internet, there are a few turbo rebuilding sites that are offering this service. The idea goes like this, removing any excess material from the edge of the turbine out, the exhaust air has a shorter distance to travel to get to unrestricted air in the down pipe. Less restriction means lower EGT's. This also has no effect on the turbine wheel itself, unlike clipping, which, although it lightens the wheel, it decreases the wheels efficiency. After having done this, the spool is wicked fast, with the turbo wanting to spin way past 25 psi. Highway speeds of 70 mph gives me EGT's of 590-650 F (5 to 7 lbs of boost). Full throttle is yet to brake 1000 F. I would recommend more people try this and see what you think.

I did the same thing to my T3,i also did the compressor side, smoothed the ridge on the inlet and removed a lot on the outlet side.
Most of the gains are made on the turbine side like you did,it made the big turbo spool WAY faster then before

I have a k03 I was thinking of doing this to but it looks WAY different than the standard k14.

I'll post up some pics when I get a chance.
