Engine block girdle kits - New batch, WORLDWIDE shipping
« on: September 29, 2010, 10:22:41 am »

So you get...

6mm girdle
12.9 grade UNBRAKO main cap bolts and washers
Spacers
Topran rubber sump gasket
Stainless sump pan bolts

The laser cut girdle (slightly different to pictured) fits 1.6 and 1.9 8V motors.

This second batch cost me quite a bit more, he says the initial batch were priced wrong  ::)

They will be £97 including postage for the UK and £127 fedexed to the USA, please ask about other destinations.

Sure, in the UK shipped...AND after I have mine all together lol.

Looks like great work. Great job on this. The spacers is what I was stalling on mine and why ultimately it doesn't have one. Awesome deal.

As far as I know these will not work on a 1.6 unless you have another spacer for the oil pan bolts.  I have a girdle like shown, but I tried fitting it with no such luck.  Once on the main caps, you need a spacer between the block and the girdle.  Or at least on Canadian 1.6 TD's.  I don't see an extra spacer.
99' 1.9 1Z Tdi, hybrid pump -1.9 housing & rover internals, 2052 wastegate turbo,.25 hflox nozzles, SDI intake, CTN tranny
96' 1.6 TD Golf, Giles pump, VNT 17, Gas changed to Diesel, Air to Water Int.

Dunno what you are on about  ??? you can't fit the standard oil pan bolts back in anyway as they are now 6mm too short.

The main cap spacer are easy once you have the girdle sorted.

Anyway, here you go.....

Fits!

This is the prototype, hence the adjusted dipstick hole.

I think I know now, the sump pan is going to be close to them main bearing cap bolts, I've gotta find my sump pan and try it

Yep. The only hassles were undoing the end four main bearing cap bolts and working out the assembly sequence so that it fits together.

bit of a newb when it comes to these engines but why the need for a crank girdle? is there some sort of weakness/fault ive not heard of or are you running with high torque levels?

Yes the engines have a weakness in the fact they don't like VNT turbos throwing 30+ psi at them  ;)

The girdle is a fairly advanced level of tuning, not really applicable to fairly standard tune-ups.

I'll (hopefully) be running hybrid pump, VNT turbo, MLS gasket, twin plenum inlet, port matched head. 150hp target.  ;D

Are you just running the oil pan bolts clear through the oil pan, gasket, and girdle? Also, are you running 2 gaskets or just one? Dipstick would have to be marked to the new thickness of the girdle too correct?
