Intercooler question
« on: October 29, 2010, 03:19:36 pm »
I have a B3 Passat Wagon with AAZ.  I want to intercool.  I am interested in obtaining either OEM intercooler for my car, but would probably have to get it from Europe (not cheap).  I think I should be able to make an mk3 tdi intercooler work, as I think they sat in more or less the same location (correct me if I'm wrong).  I am also considering a FMIC, as they are inexpensive.

So, will either the stock or tdi intercooler be good for me?  I max out now at 23psi and am concerned about the oem plastic end tanks.  Is there a downside to the FMIC, too big?  Too hard to plumb?

Thanks,

Ian

23 psi is not good for plastic end caps..

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

Good for only 1 trip to 23 psi?  That was my concern....

it may make a few trips to 23 psi.. my HUGE volvo intercooler saw 23 or so psi and it dont leak. but i was told that it was gonna pop around 15 psi.. i dunno tho, for as cheap as intercooler kits are on ebay, i may just go that route.
