WTB: headlight switch for 1991 VW GTI
« on: December 27, 2005, 11:59:32 am »
I need a new headlight switch for my 1991 (manufactured 12/90) VW GTI.  The previous owner took it and left an empty spot on the dash.  Anyone parting out a MK2 VW that has a working headlight switch?

Thanks

headlight pins

I think the later A2s had more pins on the headlight switch.
I am not at all sure on the numbers but I think early A2s had 9 pins and the later ones had 11? 7 and 9???
I'll try to remember to take a look tomorrow, when I wander out into the icebox, maybe even get a part number for you.

I pulled the headlight switch out of my '91 Golf.
 It has 10 pins on the back along with a number ... 191 941 531 N

Is it a 3 position switch?  Because I robbed one from a GTI a while ago.  Let me know.

That matches the one that I have and am sending to you :) 10 pin, and matches the number to the tee :)

Mine is just a Golf, not a GTi so maybe they are different.
Mine was a 2 position switch.

I've heard of the 3 position switches.
What does the third position do?

The switch in my Jetta is 3 position - off, parking lights, and then parking lights and headlights. Of course, my switch is the earlier style.
