No power to glowplug bus bar
« on: September 26, 2010, 10:44:39 am »
Hey all glad to see the site come back up, i am just finishing my Gas to Diesel swap and have gotten everything to the big first start, so i go and start cranking it over and thats pretty much all it does, i checked my glow plug  bus bar and no power with the key on, i check the wires on the relay and there is no power to them at all, all my wires all wired up under the hood and under the dash, any ideas anyone?

Keyswitch? Wiring to the column? Relay on the board fried?

I'd start by looking at the relay.

In the meantime, it's about 15 feet of wire and a momentary contact switch, to wire direct to the GP relay, so that you can get it to light when you want it to. There have been a few posts around here about adding an aux switch to override the GP relay for cold weather starting.  Not a terrible idea to have it available anyway.

Most, if not all of the relays can be ripped part and the contacts checked and cleaned if required. If the relay coil is done, then there is no other answer other than replacing it.

Cheers
