That's interesting.. not trying to derail this, but I wonder if the K14 having more fins makes it spool better than the VF14 with a diesel's low CFM? My K14 is much more responsive than Ed's T3 and they have a similar compressor map
how could a K14 and T3 be similar? one is WAY way bigger than the other. a K14 is equivalent to a T2, K24 being equal to a T3. K26 being equivalent to a T3/T4?
i hate to argue with you about turbos, but i just dont see it possible to have them be even close to similar.
I believe the T3 used on VW 1.6's is a 45 trim. Look at the compressor map
here compared to a K14
here. To convert lb/min to m^3/s, divide by 162.
The T3 is capable of a higher pressure ratio, but the efficiency drops off faster at higher flow. A 1.6TD is small enough you should be able to get more boost from a T3, but on say a 1.8L gas motor, you might get more boost from the K14
A T3 60trim is significantly larger than both of those though
