Hey BYM, did they remove the pre chambers when the head was shaved down? Was process cutting (fly cutter?) or grinding (with a stone)?

I'm a little late but I'm just seeing this question now.

The first shop that messed up the head did not remove the precups. The second shop that did it right did remove them.

Awesome thanks for the info. I'll compare my n/a manifold to the gasser one when I swap that on and check for swirl. If the swirl isnt there am I going to mess up my efficiency? What does the swirl actually do. Makes sense to me on the intake side for fuel mixture. But on the exhaust? Some kind of vortex affect?

I thought gasser intakes were preferred for less bias towards the center cylinders? If they don't have this swirl though I wonder how that would affect flow comparison?

It seems to me that the free-er flowing exhaust and intake ports and manifolds very positively affected his fuel economy. I mean I don't know how big the mk2 fuel tank is. But 4 hours at 55mph is 220 miles. 11/3 is 3.6 gallons. 220/3.6= 60mpg? I still can't squeek out more than 46 in my lighter mk1.. thus the hunting for greater efficiency.

But he didn't reference gallons? Just said 1/3 of a tank. I'm sure 60 is unrealistic. But surely 1/3 tank over four hours of driving is more than 40-45 I see commonly from n/a owners is all.
